I passed the 200 mark on my blog and didn’t even notice! I started blogging 3 years ago and have posted 210 pieces of my mind. You poor people!
Seriously, I blog for myself. A lot of people are deep into facebook for social networking; so far I haven’t felt that pull. I love blogging and sharing a community (or trying to, at least) with other women who also love to write. There are some fantastic people out there (Hi, Gypsy!). Blogging=writing. Twitter is great for sharing small thoughts between posts. But for me the meat and potatoes is having something to say and trying to say it in a way that speaks to others as well. I don’t know how successful I am, but like Martina McBride sings, “Do it anyway!”
Sometimes I spend an evening reading my old blog posts. It always gives me chills because what I have written is still so pertinent in my life. I try to stay away from the shallow stuff and write instead about deep truths that are everlasting and sharing what God is teaching me. Sometimes I blog for the sake of posterity–keeping something in writing that I want to remember. I print my posts and put them in a notebook. Maybe some day my grandchildren will be interested in my writings. But there is no doubt about it–when you look at my blog, you are looking at me. There are no pretenses here.
I do have some updates planned. I want to add a mission statement and definitely need to update my “About Me” page. Also, I am considering adding a few snippets from my personal journals from time to time. God is healing me from several years of heartbreak. I was reading some of my journals yesterday and am amazed at some of the deep thoughts that came out of me in my pain. Now that I am on the other side of that, maybe those snippets will be of value to others. (The whole point of writing is self discovery. Thoughts come out in my writings that I wasn’t even aware were inside me.)
I plan to be around as long as God gives me the resources to continue–a mind to speak the truth and the money to pay the monthly web hosting fee.
If you are reading this, thank you! Thanks, my friends and fellow bloggers, for your kinship and encouragement through the years. Here’s to number 212.

Thanks, ladies! Gypsy, I named my blog for my two favorite passions at the time–writing and quilting. However, somehow through the seasons of my life, quilting fell off the map. I don’t even know why. I’m just not inspired to do it any more. Maybe someday soon–I hope so because I have a number of unfinished projects that people are waiting on. (I heard that, Leanne!)
I have other websites as well as this blog, so paying for my hosting is a must. That’s the only way I can have complete freedom in my designs, etc. Thanks for the thought, though, Night Owl Mama. Come visit again!
Congratulations on your 212 post that is fantastic. Woot WOot! Ever thought about saving your money and going free webhosting at blogger? Just a thought

Well said! and thanks for the plug!!
I was first attracted to your blog by the name…I thought it might be about quilting….I stayed because of the content. I admire the time and effort you have put into your blog, taking classes to learn the nitty-gritty, and for sharing your thought processes. I always appreciate your thoughtful comments when you visit my domain.
Keep up the good work….and enjoy the journey….
