My family members served in the Virginia Militia, the Revolutionary War, and all other wars to come. Prior to America’s first war, they also helped carve this nation after arriving from Ireland in the 1600s. I am proud to be their descendant and am sorry for all those murdered by Indians, including a gggg grandfather in New York, or kidnapped by Indians, including a gggg grandmother in Kentucky. Some of my ancestors grew up with Abraham Lincoln, a neighbor. The first signer of the Declaration of Independence, John Hancock, is my 3rd cousin 6 times removed. Richard Nixon is my 8th cousin once removed. George W. Bush is my 10th cousin through the Lippincott line. My family has a long history of great love and sacrifice for this country.
