As promised, here is the update on DH after his early morning surgery today. We are home and he is settled nicely in the recliner, his newly bandaged arm propped on pillows. The surgery went very well; the doc said it looked just as expected in there, no surprises. The thumb joint was replaced with tissue removed from his forearm. Having a bear block instead of general anesthesia was a great choice. He didn’t have all the grogginess, etc. He was already in pain right after his surgery, so they medicated him before sending home. We went through the pharmacy drive-through to drop off his prescription. We had to be at the surgery center by 6 a.m., so by 10:00 he was starving. He wanted to eat! Le Peep was on his mind, so we headed over there for breakfast. He propped his arm on the table on his folded coat and my folded scarf. Brrrr…it’s COLD out there today! (Yes, I was concerned about him eating a big breakfast so soon, but he was fine. He needed it.) We picked up the meds, headed home, then I tucked him into the recliner. Last time I looked, he was watching some WW II airplane program on TV. He is medicated, fed, and cozy.
Thank you all for your prayers and your concern. It is truly appreciated. I have been so worried since he just couldn’t seem to get back on his feet after that cold he had 2 weeks ago. Saturday precipitated another trip to the family doc where he was the recipient of two “cocktails” in the rear. Those seemed to finally be the pick-me-up he needed.
I hope everyone heading north makes it to your destinations with no trouble. The weather up north is hideous, but I hope your trip is fabulous! Merry Christmas, my friends.

And a very Merry Christmas to you!
Happy everything went well for you all. Now, just to heal and get back to normal…..
