Okay. This rant has been a long time coming. I have fought it, but it must come out. Bear in mind that this is my blog, and I don’t try to be politically correct. It is not my intent to offend anyone, but I have been offended myself. This rant is about hispanics. I don’t consider myself to be a prejudiced person, and some of the most precious people in my life are hispanic. However, this rant is not about those hispanics who have come into this country legally, who have earned their citizenship, and are proud to be Americans. This rant is about the criminals who come in through the back door and demand to have the full rights of American citizens without becoming American citizens.
I live in Texas which means there is a high concentration of hispanics here. Okay. I accept that, though it impacts my life negatively every day. There are 12-15+ people living in the house next door to me who regularly come and go across the border in herds. And come and go at all hours of the day/night. Who park so many vehicles in front of my house that the mailman and trash company cannot access my yard. (Recently my brush was in the front yard for 3 weeks for this very reason.) Who play Mexican music as loud as the boom box or car radio allows so I can’t hear my own t.v. (WHY is their music so annoying???)
Yes, there are housing ordinances, but the local police department can’t enforce them. If they enforce one, they have to enforce them all, which would take a whole national branch of the INS. So, I try to be hospitable and accept their imposing presence as they crowd me out of my own living spaces and my rights to enjoy my own home and receive the services that I pay for. (What were they saying about rights???? I have them too!) I think it is very safe to say that most hispanics are in this state illegally. That means a law has been broken, does it not? Hence, the word “criminal” comes to mind.
Dallas has been a hotbed of activity in the hispanic community recently. They want to be American without giving up their loyalty to their homeland. I think that is called having your cake and eating it too. It galls me to hear their demands, to listen to them scream, “It’s not fair; we have rights.” Oh, do they now? As uninvited guests in our country, they spit in the face of our “hospitality” (allowing them to stay here illegally) and demand that they own the “house.” Seriously, seriously, what other country in the world would put up with such shenanigans? (And, the big question is, why are we???)
They want to be allowed to fly the Mexican flag in their yards and businesses. Others are flying both flags with the Mexican flag above the American flag. A principal in Houston was suspended for allowing the students at his school to do this very thing. I cannot fathom how a principal of a government school would stand for this, in what I consider an act of treason.

The latest slap in the face of Americans is the singing of the National Anthem in the spanish language. Some things you just don’t mess with. This goes beyond insulting. This is showing the deepest disrespect for the very thing the hispanics want to own. I find it very, very odd that hispanics want to fly their own flag, yet are singing the American National Anthem in spanish. What are they pledging allegiance to? Is anybody thinking this through?

I ask again: What other country would allow illegal aliens to even be here, much less allow them to make demands? (I know, “illegal alien” is not politically correct. Have we lost our minds?)
We have already gone way overboard to accomodate the hispanic community, taking resources from our own children to set up classes for their children because they refuse to speak our national language. Government has tried to require school principals to become bilingual so they can communicate with parents, since parents won’t communicate in the native tongue of this country. What else do they want from us?
Recently a firefighter in Dallas argued with a Mexican man while giving free fans to the needy. The man had lived in Dallas for 10 years, yet spoke no English. The firefighter was trying to force him to ask for the fan in English. The end result was that the firefighter was suspended and punished. The assumption is that it is the responsibility of the American citizen to communicate with the uncooperative. How did we get so upside down?
America is a melting pot. But they don’t want to melt. They want to retain their own identity, but in a country that prospers and that does allow rights to its citizens. It is clear that they prefer our system of government. So???? What are they waiting for? They know how to do it. We have set a great example for them. They can take care of their own country and stop meddling in ours.
There is only one way to become an American citizen. There is a due process in place. We have made provisions for others to join us as citizens of this great country. We are open. Breaking our laws, then whining about not having rights, is not acceptable. It’s not even moral.

When did I give my consent to allow this state to become a harbor for illegal hispanics? I did not, nor will I.
Well said, Karen! I wish I had paid better attention that day. I suspect we would have also seen way fewer landscaping trucks with no brake lights!
Another interesting aside: Sales may have been slightly down on the day of the walkout, but many businesses had record sales the day before! I saw video on the news of Hispanics shopping like crazy the day BEFORE the walk-out!
Amen, sister! If the illegal Mexican population here in Texas thought they could show us something with their May 2nd walkout, they did. They showed me that the traffic is much better on my commute – no wrecks, broken down vehicles, or snarls from someone not knowing where their exit is because they can’t read English. I also received an email about the shop-lifting being down that day much more that the spending.
If they hoped to get me to tell my congressional representatives to vote for new immigration laws to help them, they are mistaken. All their day out showed me is that I can get along just fine without them. Also, since I am a citizen, I can vote and they can’t because they are illegal aliens, which means they are criminals. I was surprised that many of the people who obtained their citizenship legally would want these illegals to get citizenship another way. It is not easy to complete the requirements for US citizenship. It is insulting to those who have worked hard to get it. So, I say put them all out and they can come back when they can do it right.
I agree with everything you said!!! I doubt any other nation would allow such shenanigans! I hope that all this debate and all the demonstrations will be a catalyst for change!
