I am listening to a CD my daughter loaned me. It has a number of nice songs ranging from country to instrumental piano. Very, very nice. The current song is Brad Paisley’s “Waitin’ On A Woman” from his album “Time Well Wasted.” Awesome!
My husband is not a patient man when it comes to shopping, as most men aren’t. I can understand that. I equate his anxiety with the feelings that overwhelm me when I have to wait at the auto repair shop. I’d rather eat nails.
Brad starts this song sitting on a bench at a mall waiting on his wife while she shops. I wonder if she is like me, rushing through the store, looking at her watch, listening for her cell phone to ring, trying to find that perfect thing in 15 minutes or less, knowing her husband is sitting, tapping his foot.
This is a great story about an older man who tells Brad he’s been waiting on a woman since 1952. “She was late for our first date.” “The wedding took a year to plan.” “Boy, it’s just a fact of life, it’ll be the same with your young wife.”
The ending is my favorite part: “… the man’s always the first to go, that makes sense because I know she won’t be ready. When it finally comes my time when I get to the other side I’ll find myself a bench… Honey, take your time, cause I don’t mind waitin’ on a woman.”
What a sweetheart! Sing it, Brad!
